- Collect patient’s dental and relevant medical history, to reference during examinations.
- Prepare patients for the Orthodontist.
- Preparing patient and equipment for X-Rays.
- Taking X-Rays and following all safety procedures as required.
- Examine gums for infections or gum disease.
- Clean patient’s teeth to remove plaque, polish, floss and brush.
- Bonding and removal of brackets and orthodontic appliances.
- Placing and removing arch wires.
- Educate patients on good oral hygiene habits and treatment progress.
- Updating patient records and examination notes.
- Perform all lab duties/requirements as instructed by the Orthodontist or leadership team.
- Prepare and maintain all dental instruments, supplies and equipment.
- Call patients for aftercare and answer questions.
- Travel to satellite locations if/when necessary.
Maintain a positive attitude and work cohesively with fellow team members to provide an atmosphere of trust, respect, and cooperation.
- Possess great energy for a fast-paced environment.
- 2+ years’ experience as a Dental Hygienist is preferred.
- Successful completion of a Dental Hygiene Diploma or Hygiene Degree program.
- Registered and/or licensed by the dental hygiene regulatory authority within province, in good standing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; written and verbal, an ability to make patients feel comfortable and at ease.
- Great time management and organizational skills.
- Experience in an orthodontic office is preferred but not required.
- Current CPR and First Aid training.
