Full job description


  • Inspect construction of various highway projects to ensure compliance with contract documents, quality and safety standards.
  • Interpret and ensure requirements and details of contract drawings and specifications.
  • Identify and act on contractual, quality and regulatory infractions.
  • Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments for work performed.
  • Prepare daily site visit report and maintain a daily photograph log.
  • Assist the Contract Administrator with the review of contractor submissions (critical path schedules, field changes, monthly payment certificates etc.) for compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Confirm the appropriate qualifications and certifications for all contractor employees, resources, and equipment.
  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders as required.


Experience required:


  • Experience working with MTO or Municipal projects for grading, paving, roads, and bridge construction.
  • Registered as EIT, if applicable, or P. Eng. with the PEO or OACETT designation as RCSI.
  • Demonstrated Asphalt / Grade / Structural Inspector experience on 2 or more MTO or municipal projects or equivalent.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to construction site.
  • The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter with enthusiasm, flexibility, and motivation.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
