Toronto Ontario, Ontario, Canada Flow Capital Full time

Flow Capital is an investor in high-growth new economy companies. We use innovative revenue royalty, cashflow-oriented, and venture debt investment structures. We target our investments at a large addressable market of primarily technology, or tech-enabled, companies that are seeking capital to scale their business, and are looking for an alternative to raising venture equity. We have made over $125M of investments and we are looking to grow our portfolio to many times that number.

Our rapid growth requires the addition of an Associate to join our investment team. The job is located in Toronto, Canada.

Job description:

Given the type of investments Flow makes - cash yielding investments into high-growth, asset-light companies - the role is best described as a hybrid of credit risk/equity risk analysis, with venture-level in-depth due diligence. Specific duties include:

  • Work closely with the deal team on due diligence and portfolio management activities
  • Reading/reviewing business plans and pitch decks
  • Gather industry and company-specific information for prospective investments, including research into potential competitors to target companies
  • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Preparing internal investment memorandums
  • Assist in the ongoing monitoring of our portfolio and our existing investments including certain administrative functions
  • Provide ongoing support for monthly or quarterly reporting, investor communications, and other duties relating to fund operations
  • 4 - 6 years relevant work experience

The ideal candidate will preferably have a unique combination of the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience working in private credit, private equity, venture capital, investment banking, corporate development, equity research, and/or corporate finance
  • An undergraduate degree with academic coursework in finance, economics, or accounting and an outstanding academic achievement
  • Corporate financial analysis, accounting, and quantitative business skills and experience, including proficiency with financial modeling and investment valuation techniques
  • Exceptional verbal & written communication skills
  • Outstanding analytical skills with high attention to detail
  • Prior investment and/or deal experience

The successful candidate will also be:

  • Proactive, highly motivated, and with strong aptitude to work independently
  • Passionate for uncovering the most compelling investment opportunities
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in the technology sector or in dealing with revenue stage, small and medium-sized, high-growth companies would be an asset
  • A professional designation (such as a CFA or CPA) will be considered favourably, but is not essential

Flow Capital offers a strong compensation package for the right candidate and the opportunity to work in a highly entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment. As a key member of a small group, opportunities for new experience and additional responsibilities are always available.

Thank you in advance for your interest in this opportunity. Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
