Job Summary

Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Architecture and Data Governance, the Senior Director, Unified Data Platform is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the unified data platform. This role involves strategic planning, technical expertise, and leadership skills to ensure the unified data platform meets business needs and supports data-driven decision-making.

What you will do:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data platform strategy aligned with the organization’s goals.

  • Establish a clear vision and strategic roadmap for the Unified Data Platform (UDP).

  • Collaborate with senior leadership and key stakeholders to gather input and secure buy-in for the data platform strategy.

  • Identify necessary resources required for the successful implementation of the data platform strategy.

  • Establish robust data governance policies and best practices.

  • Develop and execute a communication plan to keep stakeholders informed.

Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance the data platform’s capabilities.

  • Continuously monitor and assess emerging technologies in data management and analytics.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors.

  • Create an innovation pipeline to assess and integrate new technologies.

  • Ensure the data platform is designed to be scalable and flexible.

  • Implement a continuous improvement framework for the data platform.

Platform Development:

  • Oversee the architectural design of the data platform.

  • Lead the development of the data platform.

  • Establish processes for ongoing maintenance and operations of the data platform.

  • Develop and maintain an end-user self-service compute platform.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams to Integrate Data from Various Sources:

  • Work closely with different business units to integrate data from various sources into the UDP.

  • Foster strong collaboration across teams to understand data requirements.

Ensure the Platform Supports Real-Time Data Processing and Analytics:

  • Implement technologies that support real-time data processing.

  • Enable advanced analytics capabilities.

Leadership:

Build and Manage a High-Performing Data Team:

  • Recruit, hire, and retain top talent in data management.

  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct performance reviews.

  • Provide mentorship and support to team members.

Relationship Building Across Business and Technology Teams:

  • Establish strong working relationships with business and technology teams.

  • Maintain open communication channels with all stakeholders.

  • Engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs.

Foster a Culture of Continuous Improvement and Innovation Within the Team:

  • Encourage the team to explore new ideas and technologies.

  • Implement processes that promote continuous improvement.

What you bring:

  • Minimum of 15 years in data management, leading end-to-end data platform projects.

  • Experience overseeing the design, development, testing, and operation of the UDP.

  • Leadership skills to implement the UDP in alignment with IT strategy.

  • Experience in standardizing data intake from various sources.

  • Strong stakeholder collaboration skills.

  • Experience in managing relationships with external data vendors.

  • Ability to build and lead a team of data professionals.

  • Strong technical expertise in data architecture and operations.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
