Cinchy is the enterprise data collaboration platform that makes it simple and secure for business teams, legacy systems, SaaS apps, and AI to collaborate on data in real-time.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to join our finance team. The Controller will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions, smooth financial and treasury operations, adequately controlled financial processes, and providing strategic financial insights to support Cinchy’s growth. This role requires a detail-obsessed and proactive individual with strong leadership capabilities and a deep understanding of accounting and tax principles.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversee various aspects of financial management, including regulatory and financial reporting, treasury management, financial operations, internal controls, sales tax compliance, cross border transactions, plus tax credits and compliance processes.
  • Define how accounting standards and interpretations can be implemented into day to day processes to serve timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
  • Manage all financial operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, outsourced payroll, Treasury Management, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Optimize the design of internal controls and operationalize them in Cinchy.
  • Assist and serve as coverage to the Director of Strategic Finance in preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, operational and investor reporting.
  • Support month-end, quarter end, and year-end close processes for the US and Canadian Entities. Manage audits, tax returns, and other related processes.
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Assist with obtaining relevant tax credits in all jurisdictions.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to the executive team to support decision-making.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Proven working experience as a Controller or similar role, preferably in a tech or SaaS company.
  • Knowledge of cross border tax issues (an asset), SRED, and managing audits.
  • Extremely detail oriented and highly invested in preventing reporting and other errors.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements and Board/Investor level analysis/summaries.
  • Strong analytical skills; attention to detail is your superpower.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Results (things we will measure success):

As the new Controller for Cinchy, your initial 30/60/90-day plan should focus on understanding the company culture, team dynamics, and existing systems and processes while building relationships with key stakeholders.

30 days: Familiarize yourself with your team, Cinchy's mission, values, and strategic objectives. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current learning and training collateral, processes, and technologies. Take over month end, quarter end reporting processes. Own day to day financial operations and treasury.

60 Days: Prepare for our year end processes (Audit, Tax Returns, SRED, etc). Take over cross border processes and sales tax management.

90 Days: Own all financial, tax and treasury processes. Cross train to support the Director of Strategic Finance on items such as PI reporting, financial modeling, and building process automations in Cinchy.
