The Engineering Manager, Microelectronics Group will lead design teams in the planning and execution of the development of innovative and competitive Optoelectronic and Microelectronic solutions on budget, on schedule, while meeting the customer needs and quality requirements. You will continuously promote design excellence, innovation, and competitiveness.
As an Engineering Manager, Micro Electronics Group (MEG) your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor a team of multi-discipline designers and technologists involved in the development of microelectronic and optoelectronic devices and solutions.
- Responsible to hire, develop and train the staff to deliver the required capability with innovative solutions.
- Foster technical and professional growth for the design team.
- Monitor staff performance, provide regular feedback and execute the performance review process yearly.
- Promote Innovation and provide input to product roadmaps, speed to market and product lifecycle solutions.
- Work with customers to understand applications for development of solutions.
- General resource management (level loading, task assignments, addressing peaks, valleys and gaps in skills demand).
- Identify needs and organize resource training plans to fill knowledge gaps and to foster growth to keep up with market trends and technologies.
- Partner with the Product Manager and Program Managers serving as the senior design expert to review and approve estimates ensuring content is accurate, achievable within proposed budget, meets technical requirements and is provided in a timely fashion.
- Ensure that the development team applies CMC design processes and standards in the execution of projects and, where necessary, recommend improvements for greater efficiency.
To join our team, you must have:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering and five plus (5 +) years of experience in Opto and Microelectronics development for commercial and/or military applications.
- Demonstrated strong leadership and managerial skills, ability to motivate and lead a team of technical staff.
- Knowledge of Qualification and certification processes for Optoelectronics and Microelectronic applications.
- Experience in preparation and presentation of executive level briefings.
- Good understanding of financial concepts, risk management, estimating concepts, and industry practices is required.
- Be bilingual (oral and written French and English).
- Be motivated and a self-starter with good communication skills needed.
- Ability to complete and manage assignments with only high level instruction.
