Proxima is an venture funded video game startup. Our debut title, Suck Up, is the first commercially successful game to utilize real-time AI. We believe that this marks the beginning of a much larger opportunity to create the next generation of gaming experiences.


About the Role

Proxima is looking to hire a senior UX/UI designer to spearhead the design function within our team. In this role, you will be the voice of UX/UI design: You will own all elements of the user experience and interface across our games. This includes creating wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to illustrate design concepts and user flow. It also includes creating graphic UI elements for production. Ideal candidates are self-starters who prefer fast-paced and dynamic environments, and who have a deep empathy for player needs and behaviors.


This role will initially be a Part-Time (20 hour / week) contract position, with opportunity for a full-time permanent role over time. Open to applicants in the United States and Canada. Remote only.


Role Responsibilities

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to illustrate design concepts and user flows within our games and other functional areas
  • Design graphic user interfaces including game UI, menus, website elements and other components through the use of design software, including Figma and Adobe Illustrator
  • Collaborate across functions to implement UX/UI designs within games
  • Translate complex game ideas into user-friendly designs
  • Present and champion design concepts with team throughout prototyping and game development
  • Act as an advocate for the players and their needs throughout the design process


Who You Are

  • 2-5 years experience in game UX / UI design or equivalent
  • Passion for games and deep empathy for player needs and behaviors
  • Self-starter who prefers working in dynamic and fast-paced environments in which creativity and initiative are valued; excels at taking ownership and adapting to new challenges
  • Demonstrated experience through strong portfolio that highlights ability to translate complex ideas into intuitive and visually appealing designs
  • Extensive experience working in Figma, Adobe Illustrator, and other design tools
