Aecon’s Major Projects East division is hiring a Quality Control Manager for a project assignment. The QC Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of quality management systems and procedures.
What You’ll Do Here:
  • Support Project Site Team on all matters pertaining to quality
  • Coordinate activities of the Quality Team
  • Plan, establish, document, and maintain the QMP
  • Direct the performance of internal and external quality audits including audits and assessments conducted on suppliers
  • Verify procurement documents for items and services for construction and installation work
  • Indoctrinate and train quality personnel
  • Maintain qualification records of QA & QC personnel
  • Assist with the selection and assignment of Project Quality Personnel
  • Ensure quality personnel have reviewed contract details pertaining to technical and quality requirements
  • Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors
  • Review and accept customer free issue items and supporting documentation
  • Provide assistance to Project Management related to matters involving Project Quality
  • Establish and maintain the Quality Management System and report on compliance
  • Be independent of the Design-Builder’s Site/production management team
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System
  • Initiate management reviews and ensure the effective operation of the Quality Management System
  • Prepare Quality Audit Plans and schedule Internal and External Quality Audits
  • Ensure all Quality Audits are conducted and report findings to the client
  • Have authority to stop any work not performed in accordance with Quality Documentation
  • Liaise with client and act as the primary representative for the Design-Builder
  • Coordinate activities to demonstrate compliance with the Quality Management System
  • Prepare and submit monthly Quality Management System reports
  • Ensure relevant Quality Records are retained
  • Develop and implement a program for Disposition and Corrective Action for Non-Conformances
  • Approve and sign off on actions taken for closure of Non-Conformance Reports

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Certified Engineering Technologist registered in the Province of Ontario or equivalent education and training
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience working in infrastructure construction
  • 7+ years’ experience working as a QC Manager preferred
  • Must be certified as an internal or lead auditor to ISO 9001:2015
  • Previous experience in Canadian and International Standards
  • Bridge, roads, transit and highways construction experience preferred
  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of Total Quality Management and methodologies
  • Be a certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor or have experience in a similar quality management role for a transit project
  • Energetic, detail-oriented and able to prioritize and manage a multi-task workload
  • Strong aptitude for quality assurance
  • Excellent ability to clearly explain advanced technical issues
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing
  • Ability to work well both independently and on teams
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office suite
