Job DescriptionJoin our growing Talent Management & Organizational Effectiveness (TM&OE) function and lead the elevation and activation of global talent practices and employee engagement in support of CPP Investments’ multi-year transformation journey to $1 trillion assets under management. Do so by closely partnering with, and skillfully influencing, internal and external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Managing Director of TM&OE, this is one of two Directors who will lead best-in-class global talent management and organizational effectiveness programs/processes aligned to strategic objectives, and advance the development, retention, engagement, experience and readiness of employees and leaders, and enable future talent needs to be realized.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading, managing, developing, and coaching a small team of talent management and organizational effectiveness professionals to advance capabilities and achieve and sustain best-in class programs, processes and practices
- Partnering with our Talent Business Partners, ED&I and other COEs, business partners, Public Affairs & Communications and external vendors to continuously evolve and effectively implement and communicate talent programs/processes to meet the future needs of the organization
- Lead the ongoing redesign and implementation of the global competency model (Leadership Expectations, Functional Competencies and job architecture) and the integration of it into talent management practices in support of a holistic talent ecosystem
- Drive our continuous global listening strategy in alignment with strategic business priorities and large-scale transformation initiatives through comprehensive engagement, survey design and action planning processes by:
- Leading the implementation, measurement, and continuous improvement of key initiatives (i.e. employee engagement survey, pulse surveys, moments that matter, etc.)
- Working in partnership with Talent Business Partners, COEs and internal and external business partners to provide timely and meaningful insights, recommendations and solutions to leaders across the organization that drive action and facilitate change
- Monitoring progress, creating stakeholder commitment to action plans, and implementing mitigation strategies to avoid roadblocks
- Conducting and leveraging analytics, expertise and ongoing research on global leading practices and trends to deliver data-driven insights that advance strategic priorities and objectives – this includes establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and peer organizations to support benchmarking
- Advising on, and enabling, best and leading organizational design and effectiveness and change management practices in support of CPP Investments’ strategic plan, including the creation of business support materials (e.g., a change management toolkit)
- Providing Thought Leadership and Execution Leadership on other global talent management and organizational effectiveness initiatives, as required (e.g. performance management program, succession management, potential identification, etc.)
- 8-10 years experience developing and leading large global transformational talent management and organizational effectiveness programs/processes and change initiatives – namely, setting and standing-up an employee listening strategy and/or competency model and job architecture – preferably in the financial or professional services industry
- Undergraduate or post-graduate degree or college diploma in related field (i.e., Human Resources Management, Business Management) is preferred; professional designation (e.g., CHRE, CCMP) and/or coaching accreditation are advantageous
- Demonstrated business acumen, project management, change management and design thinking in complex, global organizations
- Proven track record of internal and external relationship-building, influencing and cross-functional partnership skills to drive stakeholder buy-in and sponsorship for talent program/process strategies
- Highly analytical – a demonstrated practice of sourcing, reading and interpreting data to draw conclusions, make recommendations and ensure data-driven decisioning
- Proven ability to make the complex simple and to organize and present complex information/ concepts in a persuasive manner
- Current knowledge of the market, vendor landscape, emerging and leading global trends, research, and practices
- Accomplished in identifying business needs, opportunities, talent solutions and recommendations in an ambiguous, fast-paced and constantly evolving environment
- Demonstrated ability to inclusively lead, inspire and develop diverse relationships across all levels of the organization and beyond
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
