Overview:

Southern Alberta Greater Calgary Area requires an individual to engage in projects for safety improvement, plant modification, plant repairs and/or service, sustainability troubleshooting and diagnosis. The individual will be responsible for most importantly safety of themselves, the safety of individuals around him or her while working, adhering to all policies/procedures and executing the position with efficiency and professionalism while conveying leadership.

Responsibilities: Safety and Work Place Environment:
  • Safely executing the role using the required training, experience, knowledge, resources and leadership traits.
  • Working with site docs and management to safely execute improvement projects, repairs, maintenance/service and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain equipment provided with the position.
  • This position will also require the individual to be involved in daily plant operations as needed.
Plant Improvement Projects, Repairs, Maintenance/Service and Troubleshooting:
  • Report to management, work with management and plant staff to complete projects, repairs maintenance/service and troubleshoot plant functions and/or operational problems.
  • Direct plant staff on hand and utilize man hours on projects.
  • Complete projects in a timely manner while managing an open schedule.
  • Schedule themselves in coordination with plant management’s requirements and guidance.
Relationships with Others:
  • Work with and/or lead subcontractors, ensuring they are working safely and efficiently alongside management.
  • Work closely with plant staff as a team.
Dimensions:
  • Report to GCA plant management and the operations support manager.
  • 15 plant staff/co-workers, subcontractors/plumbing/electrical/fabricators.
  • 250,000 + m3 of ready-mix production per year from 5 plants.
Qualifications: Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • WCB welder certification, or 2nd year apprenticeship; Journeyperson certification would be an asset.
  • Active Class 5 driver’s license a minimum, drivers abstract is required upon offer of employment.
Experience & Skill Set:
  • Shop fabrication setting and experience an asset.
  • Individual must be safety oriented, motivated, efficient and able to work independently.
  • Current active safety tickets are an asset but not required.
  • Must be flexible on availability and willing to perform all required tasks.
  • Flexibility on availability is required. Work schedule is not limited to common hours, the individual will be required to fill any daily vacancies in terms of plant operations.
