This is a temporary 12 month position, with the possibility of extension.


Reporting to the Director of Benefit Operations, this position plays a key role by representing the Alberta Municipalities Benefits Department within a team of professionals delivering benefits services to our members. Maintenance of the quality of service provided to participants and potential participants will be of the highest degree, providing members with confidence that they have made, or will make, the right choice in selecting Alberta Municipalities as their Benefits Program provider.


Know-How

Practical/ Technical Knowledge

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business or related field
  • Certified Employee Benefits designation (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA), or other relevant designation is an asset
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) or Benefits Consulting environment
  • Life and Accident & Sickness License is required or must be obtained within the first six (6) months
  • Strong knowledge of group benefits and products, such as basic group life, health, dental, and disability insurance with the ability to interpret policy contract wording

Planning, Organizing, and Integrating

  • Highly organized and positive individual, who is team-oriented
  • Intermediate level experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to use third-party computer-based customer data files and records

Communicating and Influencing Skills

  • Ability to promote services to clients compellingly and persuasively.
  • The ability to interact with plan administrators to identify their concerns and needs with respect to employee benefits and related services
  • High level of integrity, with a sense of urgency and results orientation


Responsibilities

  • Apply exemplary customer service skills that promote Alberta Municipalities’ vision and values
  • Develop and maintain strong existing customer relationships and ensure participating members and potential participants receive the highest level of customer service through day-to-day administration of the program
  • Respond appropriately to inquiries from participants in a timely and accurate manner, while recognizing that the individual municipal program administrators will have varying levels of knowledge, ability, and authority
  • Administer ongoing enrollment and adjustments and implement new and changing employee benefits programs in a courteous and efficient manner

-Reviewing and interpreting customer benefits policy text and providing direction to customers accordingly

-Various process improvement projects as required

  • Encourage and promote products and services at every opportunity and identify emerging or changing client needs

-Provide information in support of the development and delivery of an ongoing communications program to keep participants informed of developments regarding the design and delivery of benefits services

-Maintain effective customer-focused working relationships with other providers of products and services related to the effective delivery of the benefits program

-Ensure plan design changes are completed in a timely manner by coordinating with all stakeholders involved

-Ensure that challenges and opportunities regarding service delivery processes and member needs are identified, assessed, and made known

-Facilitate and deliver onsite or virtual plan administrator/employee information visits and annual regional plan administrator information sessions
