False Creek Healthcare Centre, a division of Clearpoint Health Network, is recruiting for an Environmental Service Aide - Casual

Pay range: $21/hr - $24/hr

Position Summary:

As the Environmental Service Aide/ Housekeeper, you are responsible for providing direct support to the surgical unit and PACU to facilitate the processing of patients. The Housekeeper must have a comprehensive understanding of safety regulations related to cleaning products and demonstrate a professional and caring approach in dealing with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities include:

Overall cleaning of OR & PACU areas, including but not limited to OR, SPD, Staff Change Areas, Storage Areas, Patient Rooms, Bathrooms, Hallways, and Administration as required. This includes:

Daily:

  • OR Cleaning between cases and when required Terminal Clean of OR and Equipment at the end of the day
  • Clean and disinfect patients' rooms, furniture, and equipment, including making beds ready for the next patient, restocking patient rooms and bathrooms with supplies, collecting dirty laundry, daily dust mopping of PACU floors, spot cleaning, cleaning and disinfecting all OR & PACU floors and surfaces, dusting and polishing hospital furniture and equipment, distributing clean linen and surgical scrubs, creating and maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and linen, mixing appropriate quantities of cleaning liquids and chemicals, maintaining a clean and organized storage area for cleaning equipment and supplies, ensuring proper collection of surgical waste, attending staff meetings, and other tasks as required.

The Housekeeper, with the assistance of the other members of the perioperative team, will also be responsible for completing the following tasks:

  • Maintaining constant awareness of the cleanliness, maintenance, and repair of the hospital
  • Weekly Terminal Clean of Unit including washing windows and walls
  • Weekly Terminal Clean of All Equipment
  • Informing OR Nurse Director of any cleaning equipment that may need repair or replacement or any building hazard and assisting in addressing it

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of safety regulations related to cleaning products
  • Must be fluent in written and verbal English and possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be capable of working under pressure and performing a wide range of duties that may require independent action
  • Must be proactive, cooperative, alert, accept directions, and be able to function as a team member
