Job Description

Title: Cost Accountant

Reports to: Controller

Salary Range: $70K to $80K

Product Costing and Cost Accounting:
  • Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting models for raw materials, labor, overhead, and other production costs.
  • Cost out new and existing products, factoring ingredient costs, processing costs, and packaging costs.
  • Track and analyze variances between budgeted and actual costs, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Prepare cost reports and presentations for management, providing insights into operational financial performance.
Yield Management:
  • Investigate and resolve yield issues, implementing optimization strategies to minimize waste and improve production efficiency.
  • Determine and maintain accurate product yields for costing purposes.
  • Track compliance with provincial yield regulations and reporting requirements.
Menu & Recipe Management
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of menu and recipe data across all systems, implementing best practices.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive menu library in collaboration with Operations and Marketing, including detailed recipes, precise ingredient lists, and integrated costing information.
  • Oversee the development of automated workflows for adding new items, retiring obsolete ones, and updating existing entries, streamlining the process, and ensuring data integrity.
Audit, Compliance & Financial Management:
  • Assist the financial reporting team as necessary.
  • Manage compliance with provincial and federal regulations related to food production, safety, and labelling, etc.
  • Assist the financial reporting accounting team as needed with tasks such as data entry, report preparation, and variance analysis.
  • Coordinate inventory counts and audits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/ finance.
  • 5+ years proven experience in Cost Accounting ideally in retail, food production industries.
  • CPA Designation or nearing completion of designation.
  • Experience utilizing Netsuite & ECRS Catapult will be considered a strong asset.
  • Strong Financial Acumen & analytical agility
  • Detail oriented, organized & ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel & MS Office.
  • Self motivated & results driven; prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
Working conditions

Working in an office environment 5 days a week. May require some weekends & evenings from time to time to support business needs. #J-18808-Ljbffr
