The Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies into the Vet channel to meet business objectives. Evaluate customer information and feedback, market conditions, sales team feedback, and competitor data to define the marketing strategy and implement marketing plan changes as needed. The selected candidate will lead the Marketing team, through development of enhanced capabilities and driving engagement.

What are we looking for?

  • University or College degree.
  • 8+ years of Marketing and/or Sales experience.
  • 5+ years of People Leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of Management Experience - Project Management an asset.
  • Veterinary and/or Pharmaceutical industry experiences would be preferable.
  • Knowledge of Vet Distributor structure preferable.
  • Experience in all aspects of developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a global team of professionals.
  • Bilingual (French and English) an asset.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Building effective teams and developing direct reports

  • Build the functional capability and the engagement among local marketing team.
  • Establish functional and leadership curriculum for each member of the team.
  • Develop High performance collaboration framework within marketing team.
  • Build effective relationships with Royal Canin North America as well as the Global team.

Strategic Agility & Managing Vision and Purpose

  • Lead and develop the marketing strategy for the overall Veterinary business unit, including category specific plans and digital services plans to deliver against objectives.
  • Effectively communicate, inspire, and align the Vet Sales team behind this vision and strategy to drive recommendation and growth for Royal Canin.
  • Active member of the Veterinary Management Team to assist in the overall strategic direction setting for the Veterinary division.

Marketing Assets, innovations and promotional calendar deployment

  • Owner of our portfolio performance, SKU optimization, portfolio segmentation and pricing strategies.
  • Development and deployment of local marketing strategies and activation plans (execution, localization of global tools, creation, translation).
  • Lead launch of innovations, through collaboration with the global, regional team and local activity management (innovations Include new products/services/renovations).
  • Work In collaboration with the Brand and Pet owner team (BAPO) to scale our Pet Owner reach.
  • Accountable to drive programs that drive Vet recommendation (prescription - conversion - adherence).
  • Lead promotional strategy that will drive overall category growth through promo effectiveness and establishing clear ROI.

Operational Planning and financial target delivery

  • Accountable to deliver our financial metrics (Net Sales - MAC and earnings).
  • Set annual plans in conjunction with Sales and Scientific Communication team (AEP process).
  • Liaise with the North American team and Global stakeholders (Activity management, Global Brand Team).

Market Research and Strategic Demand Creation

  • With support from Category management, monitor market activities and category performances (pricing Index, competitive launches, share analysis).
  • Strategic revenue management: Responsible for setting the pricing strategy for the veterinary portfolio.
  • Work In collaboration with our VET ecosystem (Mars Petcare, Antech, VCA, Blue Pearl, Banfield etc.) to grow areas of mutual partnerships.

Internal processes and Quality assessment

  • Leads key sales and distributors Inventory through supply chain collaboration - own demand projections.
  • Owns customer communication - collaborate with our Corporate Affairs team/Legal Department.
  • Participation In S&OP+ periodical process Including with enhanced responsibilities in step 1 PMR (Portfolio Management Review) as well as supporting forecast process as part of DMR (demand management review).
  • Follow, support and execute against all QMP processes (Quality Management process).
  • Active participation In Internal and external audit, Including ownership of marketing material development process.
