Description

En tant qu’ingénieur métallurgiste R&D, vous aurez à collaborer quotidiennement avec 3 membres de l’équipe d’ingénierie qui est composée de 10 employés au total.

L’ingénieur métallurgiste R&D a aussi la responsabilité de:

  • Réaliser des activités de conception, de prototypage et d’analyse dans le cadre du développement de nouveaux outils diamantés selon les priorités établies avec le comité de produit
  • Assurer une veille sur les besoins des clients et du réseau interne de vendeurs et techniciens pour supporter le développement des affaires
  • Caractériser, analyser et élaborer des produits métalliques et composites fabriqués par métallurgie des poudres
  • Participer avec les techniciens à des tests sur des sites de forage d’exploration minière pour la validation technique des produits selon le plan de validation
  • Participer à identifier, développer et encadrer des partenariats de recherche et développement avec des compagnies, des organismes, des institutions d’enseignement, ou autre
  • Effectuer des activités de veille (veille brevets et technologique, concurrentielle) pour identifier de nouvelles orientations scientifiques et opportunités de développement
  • Donner de la formation technique sur le forage et sur les produits utilisés selon le plan de formation
  • Participer à des rencontres rassemblant les techniciens de chantier pour bonifier le portefeuille de projets de développement ainsi que pour obtenir leur rétroaction sur les produits de Fordia, sur ceux des concurrents et sur nos projets R&D en cours
  • Assister le département des achats dans la qualification de fournisseurs critiques
  • Effectuer des études sur les propriétés et les caractéristiques des matériaux
  • Participer au processus de demande de crédits et de subventions dans le cadre de projets de développement
  • Supporter le département de production et les sous-traitants dans la résolution de problèmes lors de la fabrication des produits
  • Supporter le département de qualité dans l’analyse des non-conformités internes ou externes
  • Assister le département d’amélioration continue dans le déploiement d’équipements ayant un impact sur le procédé de fabrication

Exigeance

  • Détenir un diplôme universitaire en ingénierie des matériaux ou métallurgique
  • Être membre de l’OIQ/PEO ou candidat à la profession d’ingénieur (CPI)
  • Minimum de 7 années d'expérience pertinente
  • Bilinguisme (français et anglais) parlés et écrits
  • La maîtrise de l'anglais est essentielle afin de faciliter la communication avec des clients et partenaires internationaux et de participer activement à des projets globaux
  • Permis de conduire valide
  • Passeport valide
  • Voyages d’affaires (4-6 semaines/année)

Description

As an R&D metallurgical engineer, you will have to collaborate daily with 3 members of the engineering team composed of 10 employees in total.

The R&D metallurgical engineer is also responsible for:

  • Carry out design, prototyping and analysis activities as part of the development of new diamond tools according to the priorities established with the product committee
  • Characterize, analyze and develop metallic and composite products manufactured by powder metallurgy
  • Perform studies on the properties and characteristics of materials
  • Participate with technicians in tests on mining exploration drilling sites for the technical validation of products according to the validation plan
  • Participate in identifying, developing and supervising research and development partnerships with companies, organizations, educational institutions, or other
  • Perform watch activities (patent and technology watch, competition) to identify new scientific directions and development opportunities
  • Participate in meetings bringing together site technicians to improve the portfolio of development projects as well as to obtain their feedback on Fordia's products, those of competitors and our ongoing R&D projects
  • Support the production department and subcontractors in solving problems during product manufacturing
  • Support the quality department in the analysis of internal or external non-conformities
  • Provide technical training on drilling and on the products used according to the training plan
  • Participate in the process of applying for credits and grants within the framework of development projects
  • Assist the purchasing department in the qualification of critical suppliers
  • Assist the continuous improvement department in the deployment of equipment having an impact on the manufacturing process

Requirements

  • Holds a university degree in materials or metallurgical engineering
  • Member of the OIQ/PEO or a candidate for the engineering profession (FARPACTA)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar position
  • Bilingualism (French and English) spoken and written
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Business trips (4-6 weeks/year)

Required skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of product development and powder metallurgy processes
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing (an asset)
  • Strong project management skills
