Calgary Alberta, Calgary region, Canada The PREP Society for Individuals with Down Syndrome Part time

Speech-Language Pathologist

PREP is well known for its success in supporting families and children with Down syndrome, and we take pride in our role as an advocate for inclusion for over 36 years. Our therapists educate parents, health care professionals, and educators about best practices for communication skill development and identify measurable, achievable goals that motivate parents and professionals to work together to help each child realize their full potential.

PREP currently has an opening for a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our multi-disciplinary team and make a real difference in the lives of children with Down syndrome. This unique opportunity will provide a range of experiences to develop your skills as an SLP and allow you to share your expertise as you work alongside families, staff, educators, and other professionals. We are currently looking for someone to provide support to our PREP families by providing a combination of onsite fee-for-service, in-home FSCD contract support, and involvement in our multidisciplinary group programs. While there is some flexibility in hours, FSCD contracts for K-12 students require therapy support to be offered outside of school hours, which means some availability during later afternoons (no later than 5:30pm) will be required. PREP is currently in need of someone to fulfill a 0.6-1.0 FTE position (21-35hrs/week). The starting schedule would be Mon-Thurs (10:00am-5:30pm) and Fridays (8:30am-4:00pm), but there may be some flexibility in hours and scheduling depending on the successful candidate.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Creation and monitoring of speech-language goals and strategies
  • Provision of individual, family-centered therapy
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team to work on social and communication goals within a group setting
  • Communication with parents, therapists, and other support team members

We offer:

  • A permanent position
  • A flexible work environment
  • Access to a dedicated team of professionals for support
  • 5 weeks of paid time off
  • Paid professional development opportunities
  • Access to our benefits plan, which includes vision, dental, and drug coverage.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be comfortable working independently and with a multidisciplinary team
  • Have strong time management and organizational skills
  • Be a strong communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Have experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Be comfortable in a flexible work environment

Professional Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university
  • Registration in the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologist (ACSLPA)

Additional Experience:

  • Experience with FSCD contracts considered an asset

Job Type:

  • Full-time or part-time
  • Permanent salaried position

Pay: $50.00-$63.00 per hour
