Webuild has won a new contract to deliver the Pape Tunnel and Underground Stations section of the Ontario Line and we are currently seeking a Health And Safety Coordinator
This position is a full-time 100% onsite position at our downtown office.
Job Description:
The Health and Safety Coordinator for Construction is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations, company policies, and industry standards. This role involves identifying risks, implementing safety measures, and fostering a culture of safety on construction sites. The coordinator collaborates with project managers, site supervisors, and workers to promote a safe and productive work environment.
Responsibilities:
- PNC is beginning work on-site, involving multiple subcontractors, which necessitates the hiring of a dedicated Health and Safety Coordinator.
- This role is critical to supporting the H&S department in developing and implementing procedures, as well as ensuring that safety standards are consistently met to protect all personnel, including subcontractors.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure full compliance with all relevant regulations and standards on the construction site.
- Assist in creating comprehensive Health and Safety Plans and Site-Specific Manuals.
- Support the preparation and execution of ISO 45001 audits and ensure progress toward achieving COR certification.
- Collect, review, and maintain safety documentation from subcontractors to ensure alignment with site specific safety policies.
- Conduct regular audits of subcontractors’ safety practices and records to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Health and Safety Certification: Possession of a relevant safety certification such as NCSO or equivalent is preferred.
- Familiarity with COR or ISO 45001: Basic knowledge or exposure to either COR auditing or ISO 45001 standards.
- Construction Safety Experience: Experience in health and safety roles within construction or infrastructure projects.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Ability to assist in the oversight and coordination of subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Adaptability in Fast-Paced Environments: Willingness to support safety operations in a dynamic, high-pressure construction setting.
