Job Summary:

Reporting to the Operations Manager and operating from our client’s site, the Supervisor is responsible for the direction of on-site personnel and equipment to meet the requirements of our customers. The individual in this position must be able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the daily operation and personnel on site
  • Coordinate personnel and equipment to ensure contract requirements are met
  • Assist in recruitment with HR
  • Promote a safe work environment through implementation and creation of safe work procedures with HSE team
  • Develop personnel scheduling
  • Provide a strong field presence, as well as conducting general and site inspections, tours
  • Complete ride-alongs with the employees
  • Inspect units daily to ensure they are ready for the following day and ensure equipment compliance to AB Transportation regulations
  • Identify deficiencies and correct them
  • Conduct regular employee evaluations
  • Ensure all training is kept current for yourself and your team
  • Determine disciplinary actions and work with HR to follow proper process
  • Review employees' required documentation (JSA, FLRA, Pre/Post Trip, Near Miss, HID, BBO, and timecards)
  • Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all assigned equipment
  • Operate equipment as needed, providing coverage for personnel
  • Attend monthly client meetings
  • Adhere to and enforce all BME and client procedures, policies, practices, and review with employees during daily toolbox talks or safety meetings
  • Prepare, plan and conduct daily toolbox talks with relevant topics
  • Provide report information as required
  • Maintain positive client relationships and identify areas of potential growth
  • Coordinate all laydown yard maintenance and repairs
  • Assess hazards in the field and correct in a timely manner
  • Identify and lead cost savings initiatives
  • Maintain the PPE and its usage with employees
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • Maintain company vehicle as required – fuel, oil changes, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess valid driver's license (class 1 preferred) with a clean driver’s abstract
  • OSSA (or BSO/CSO) and CSTS Certification
  • Minimum 3 years previous supervisory experience
  • Previous fuel hauling experience is considered an asset
  • NCSO Designation or working towards
  • Above average troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Excellent customer relations
  • Interpersonal skills, facilitation, and planning skills
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Ensure to keep required training certificates and tickets up to date and active, including: Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Provincial Hours of Service, Daily Trip Inspections, Weights and Dimensions
