The Pharmacy Technician plays an important role in the operations of Mint Pharmacies, by assisting the Pharmacist in ensuring the dispensary area is functional, clean, and operational to ensure the highest quality customer service to patients and clients. The Pharmacy Technician will assist the Pharmacist in preparing drug orders and maintaining proper inventory.

Pharmacy Technicians are essential to the success of Mint's Mission to help people feel better. Through patient-centered care, the Pharmacy Technician provides top-tier service to our community while maintaining and promoting Mint's reputation of excellence and demonstrating our values.

Reports to: Pharmacy Manager

Inventory Management:

  1. Monitor stock and supply levels to ensure enough for optimal operation.
  2. Prepare and order stock and supplies from indicated sources.
  3. Receive and verify stock and supplies purchased and follow up with discrepancies.
  4. Generate required paperwork to submit and receive orders in Kroll.
  5. Restock dispensary shelves, ensuring stock is rotated as per expiry dates.
  6. Routinely monitor expiry dates of medications and segregate expired products for disposal, destruction, or return.
  7. Ensure drugs are both transported and stored under the appropriate conditions (i.e., temperature, security).
  8. Routinely audit inventory for discrepancies.
  9. Deliver medications to institutional wards.

Education and Qualifications:

  1. Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program
  2. Experience as a Pharmacy Technician is an asset

Experience & Skills:

  1. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  2. Knowledge of Kroll, Netcare, and other health database programs
  3. Excellent phone manner, speaks clearly and professionally
  4. Very strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  5. Excellent organizational and time management skills
