Responsibilities

- Geological modeling to support exploration, site characterization, and reservoir modeling for carbon sequestration via mineralization

- Design exploration criteria and conceptual models for in-situ carbon mineralization reservoirs

- Design and execute safe geological field programs, including field work, drilling program planning and management, to further understanding of target systems

- Manage project schedules, budgets, and communications as part of a rapidly changing, innovation-focused environment

- Interpret geochemical data to guide exploration Commission and review work by geophysical and geological contractors

- Mentor and train colleagues in exploration, interpretation, and modeling methods

- Execute and communicate high quality geological research and modeling to team and stakeholders of different professional backgrounds

- Develop and maintain databases

- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time


Education and experience

- M.Sc. in geoscience, or reservoir modeling

- 5+ years of experience in mineral exploration and geological investigation or reservoir modeling, including proven experience with:

- geological modeling

- geophysical and geological interpretation

- geological field work including drill programs

- geoscientific data management

- reporting and product delivery

- active industrial environments with stringent Health, Safety, and Environmental standards


- Expertise in some or all of the following:

- Mafic and ultramafic rocks, including basaltic sequences, ophiolite and greenstone belt geology

- Geophysical methods and the integration of geophysical and geological data

structural geology and mapping

- Rock mass characterization and geotechnical site investigation

- Seismic data interpretation

- Aqueous geochemistry and mineral speciation

- Geochemistry of ultramafic systems

- Expertise in geology across Canada and the ability to get up to speed quickly in new areas

- Experience with carbon sequestration and hard rock reservoir characterization an asset

- Preferred location and registration as a Professional Geoscientist in Quebec


Skills and software

- Geological modeling software, e.g. Leapfrog, GOCAD

- Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including scripting and custom workflows

- Strong communication skills

- Database design and geoscience data management

- Relational, SQL, and NoSQL databases, cloud-hosted data management solutions

- Experience in Tough-react or modeling of fluid flow in porous media is an asset

- Experience integrating aqueous geochemistry to fluid flow models using Phreeq-C, or EQ-3/6 is also an asset

- English, bilingual French an asset

- Valid driver's license

Responsabilités

● Modélisation géologique à l’appui de l’exploration, de la caractérisation des sites et de la modélisation des gisements pour la séquestration de carbone par la minéralisation.

● Élaboration de critères d’exploration et de modèles conceptuels pour la minéralisation de carbone in situ.

● Conception et exécution des programmes géologiques sûrs sur le terrain, y compris le travail sur place, la planification et la gestion de programmes de forage afin d’approfondir la compréhension des systèmes cibles.

● Gestion des calendriers, des budgets et des communications dans le cadre d’un environnement en évolution rapide axé sur l’innovation.

● Interprétation des données géochimiques pour mener à bien l’exploration.

Études et expérience

● Maîtrise en géosciences ou en modélisation de gisements.

● Plus de cinq ans d’expérience dans l’exploration minière et l’étude géologique ou la modélisation de gisements, y compris une expérience avérée dans les domaines suivants :

● la modélisation géologique;

● l’interprétation géophysique et géologique;

● les travaux géologiques sur le terrain, y compris les programmes de forage;

● la gestion des données géoscientifiques;

● l’établissement de rapports et la prestation de services;

● les environnements industriels actifs comportant des normes strictes en matière de santé, de sécurité et d’environnement.


● Expertise dans la totalité ou une partie des domaines suivants :

● les roches mafiques et ultramafiques, y compris les séquences basaltiques et la géologie des ophiolites et des ceintures de roches vertes;

● les méthodes géophysiques et l’intégration des données géophysiques et géologiques;

● la géologie structurale et la cartographie;

● la caractérisation de la masse rocheuse et l’étude géotechnique du site;

● l’interprétation des données sismiques;

● la géochimie aqueuse et la spéciation minérale;

● la géochimie des systèmes ultramafiques.

● Une expertise en géologie dans l’ensemble du Canada et une capacité à se familiariser rapidement avec de nouvelles régions sont des atouts.

● Une expérience de la séquestration de carbone et de la caractérisation des gisements de roche dure est un atout.

● Un permis d’exercice obtenu auprès d’un organisme de réglementation canadien (Quebec) est souhaité.


Compétences et logiciels

● Logiciel de modélisation géologique, par exemple Leapfrog, GOCAD ou Micromine.

● Une expérience de TOUGHREACT ou de la modélisation de l’écoulement des fluides dans les milieux poreux est un atout.

● Une expérience de l’intégration de la géochimie aqueuse dans les modèles d’écoulement des fluides à l’aide de PHREEQC ou d’EQ3/6 est également un atout.

● Systèmes d’information géographique (SIG), y compris les scripts et les flux de travail personnalisés.

● Solides compétences en communication.
