Why is this role important :
Reporting to the Senior Director of Transport Maintenance, the Director will lead a diverse team of colleagues who are responsible for all equipment and services for our national fleet. The Director plays an important role in taking ownership and care in delivering specific expertise, useful recommendations and great service to our Transport Operations business partners.


What you'll do:

  • Provide leadership to our regional maintenance teams, including in-house and third party maintenance providers
  • Manage vendor relationships - with capital vendors on delivery terms and agreements, as well as maintenance vendors
  • Build and maintain strong partnership with Transport Operations, ensuring that equipment is available and well maintained to align with operational requirements
  • Manage fleet to ensure strong maintenance and equipment aging program, to properly utilize equipment based on mileage/age, and transport lanes
  • Rigorous financial management, including industry standard reporting and analytics, and using data to drive decision making
  • Represent Loblaw Transport at industry events, and promote our values of fleet safety and operational excellence (DRIVE principles)
  • Negotiate with vendors to deliver best in class value, while leveraging our growing business to drive preferred pricing
  • Lead consistent process across all maintenance groups in all transport domiciles nationally


What you bring:

  • Strong team leader and communicator, who can collaboratively build and integrate cross functional relationships and bring beneficial skills to complement existing team

  • University or college degree in Business, or an equivalent degree in a related field of study an asset
  • 8+ years of experience, leading, mentoring and coaching a dynamic team of people
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of fleet maintenance, including power units and trailers
  • An innovative critical thinker with a customer centric approach to deliver mutually beneficial solutions to various business partners
  • An effective change agent, who is capable of influencing people to new ways of thinking and adopting more sophisticated working tools
  • Strong eye for business and financial understanding
