The Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is a warm & vibrant workplace with team members providing service to children & their families in inpatient units & ambulatory clinics. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful Neuropsychologist will be part of a Neuropsychology team. As part of the multidisciplinary team and within the context of a Family Centered Care service delivery model, the ACH Neuropsychology Service provides assessment, treatment, intervention, and consultation to children and their families who are experiencing complex developmental, medical, and concomitant behavioral, academic and psychological difficulties associated with neurological and medical diagnoses. Programs and clinics currently served by the Neuropsychology Service include Neurology, Neuro-oncology, Hematology, Neurosurgery, Calgary Zone Refractory Epilepsy Surgery Program, Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program, Genetics, Cardiology, and Metabolics. Clinical research opportunities may be available, participation on program/clinic committees is expected as is the involvement in supervision within the CPA accredited pre-doctoral residency and university practicum programs. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, adaptability and openness to innovative practice, skills in collaboration and working within a team, and an ability to practice within a Family Centered Care model. You will receive guidance, mentoring & leadership appropriate to your level of experience.

As a Neuropsychologist you will provide advanced clinical services (including neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis, and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families. As an advanced level psychologist you will work within or along with teams to provide and inform services for patients with multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. As a Neuropsychologist you are expected to lead, facilitate, and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). This position may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, masters level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program, with successful completion of an appropriate CPA or APA accredited residency, and successful completion of a two-year post-doctoral fellowship program with a focus in Neuropsychology (consistent with the Houston Guidelines). Registered or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists.

Successful completion of a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship program in Neuropsychology (prior to the start date) with specific experience in Pediatric Neuropsychology is required. Demonstrated experience in cognitive and neuropsychological assessment, consultation skills, and therapeutic intervention within a medical setting is required. Understanding and commitment to a Family Centered Care service delivery model is required. Experience working collaboratively in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams.

Demonstrated clinical experience and research productivity within acquired brain injury (e.g., concussion, moderate-to-severe traumatic brain injury, stroke) in a pediatric hospital setting. Qualified candidates with expertise and/or experience in equity, diversity and inclusion work preferred. Linguistic diversity and proficiency in multiple languages considered an asset. BCLS - HCP certificate.
