Health, Safety, Security and Environment Specialist
Headquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick, NBM Railways is comprised of three short line railroads: NB Southern Railway, Eastern Maine Railway, and Maine Northern Railway. Together, they provide the most direct rail connections between Atlantic Canada and the northeastern United States. Through partnerships with other major railways, NBM Railways cargo is delivered to destinations across North America.
NBM Railways is currently seeking a full-time, permanent Health, Safety, Security and Environment Specialist, to be located in Maine.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a strong field presence to ensure that all NBM Railway employees in Maine are operating safely and within the regulations set by our various regulators.
- Promote the highest standards of safety throughout the company through the promotion of Intelex workflows, OHSA regulations, company policy, and safety best practices.
- Assist with the collection of information for FRA reporting processes.
- Coordinate the CFR 240/242 program
- Provide support and education for all team members regarding HSSE activities and initiatives
- In collaboration with Recruiting and Operations, facilitate orientation program for all new hires, contractors, and customers.
- Coordinate/deliver training as required.
- Audit records, facilities, and equipment to ensure compliance and support any corrective action
- Provide “On Call” support for emergencies and investigations.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary HSSE education or equivalent work experience.
- Railway experience is an asset.
- Must enjoy a fast paced and challenging environment.
- Must be proficient with MS Office.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
