Role Overview:

As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy operations by assisting pharmacists in medication management, providing excellent customer service, maintaining accurate inventory records, and offering clinical support to our patients. Your expertise and dedication will contribute to ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical services to our valued customers. You will also be key in mentoring and training pharmacy students, assistants and newly hired technicians.

Responsibilities:
Medication Management:
• Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently.
• Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Label and package medications according to established protocols and standards.
• Maintain proper storage and handling of pharmaceuticals to ensure product integrity and patient safety.
• Perform prescription transfers and medication refills under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Customer Service and Service Excellence:
• Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, addressing their inquiries and concerns promptly and courteously.
• Process prescription orders accurately and efficiently, including billing and insurance claims.
• Provide medication counselling to patients, explaining proper usage, dosage, and potential side effects.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
Inventory Management:
• Monitor inventory levels and order medications and supplies as needed to maintain adequate stock levels.
• Receive, verify, and store incoming shipments of medications and supplies, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy and compliance with inventory control procedures.
• Rotate stock and remove expired or damaged products from inventory according to established guidelines.
Clinical Support:
• Assist pharmacists in conducting medication reviews and medication therapy management services.
• Compile patient information and assist in the preparation of medication-related documentation, including patient profiles, drug utilization reviews, and medication reconciliation reports.
• Support pharmacists in providing clinical services, such as immunizations, health screenings, and medication adherence programs.
Education and Experience:
• College graduate from an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program.
• Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Proficiency in computer applications including Word, Excel spreadsheets, Kroll, Netcare, and other database programs.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective communication skills at all levels within the organization.
• Proactive approach to tasks and willingness to take the initiative.
• Excellent phone etiquette, with the ability to speak clearly and professionally.
• Keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tasks and responsibilities.
