Position Overview

Safety is always a top priority for you, and you go out of your way to ensure the well-being and safety of those around you. You lead by example and leverage your exceptional communication skills to build effective partnerships that help reinforce the safety values you champion. With your skills and passion, you’d be a great fit as our Program Manager, Human Performance Improvement.

Joining our Occupational Health and Safety department, you’ll develop, execute, maintain, and evaluate our safety strategies for both internal and external stakeholders. You’ll oversee the delivery and presence of energy safety messages to our target audiences and expand our messaging and channels.

You know how to navigate a regulatory environment, and you have a background in developing programs and event management in this space. Your exceptional public speaking skills help you share your work and passion with an audience confidently, and you openly engage partners to ensure your safety programming includes diverse perspectives.

In this role, you will:
  1. Evaluate proactive safety programs, primarily focused in the area of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) and Human Performance Improvement (HPI).
  2. Support the development and execution of a HOP and HPI evaluation program, with a goal of assessing stakeholder readiness, applying change management techniques, and developing targeted strategies to support adoption.
  3. Conduct program research with a focus on meeting current and future years needs.
  4. Ensure alignment of safety and consistency with all current and future initiatives.
  5. Be involved in designing and developing strategies.
  6. Develop and implement an HPI Training program.
  7. Work closely with all levels of management across the organization.
  8. Establish, support and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Evaluate current programs for gaps in effectiveness and opportunities for improvement.
  10. Lead a small team to drive and deliver department objectives.
What it takes:
  1. A bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Safety Management, Business Administration or Communications, plus a minimum of three years of related experience.
  2. Registered as or eligible to obtain registration as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
  3. Experience driving high human and organizational performance improvements in a high-risk industry through human factors, organizational effectiveness and quality.
  4. Proven collaboration skills to engage partners and incorporate others in your work.
  5. Exceptional time-management skills and an ability to balance competing priorities.
  6. Extensive experience and knowledge in program development and evaluation.
  7. Valid BC Driver’s License.
  8. A certification in Human Performance Improvement (HPI) and/or Human Factors and Organizational Behaviour or Organizational Design would be an asset.
  9. Continuous Improvement certification (LEAN, Six Sigma or other) or similar certification would be considered an asset.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.

Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
