Cyber & Tech Underwriter/Underwriting Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic professional to drive the profitable growth of our client's Cyber and Tech Underwriting department within their organization. This role will focus on marketing, underwriting, and strategic management of key products including Tech E&O, Property, CGL (P&C Package), and Umbrella/Excess. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategies for our technology portfolio while ensuring alignment with the company's objectives.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new business and manage renewals for select accounts, including risk analysis and negotiation of policy terms to meet growth, retention, and profitability targets in line with the company's strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the National Technology Practice strategy.
  • Participate in local, North American, and global technology industry discussions and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Prepare and present portfolio metrics such as rate, retention, and bookings during monthly Cyber/Technology Team meetings.
  • Serve as a key resource and authority within the Technology team.
  • Review, negotiate, and draft policy terms, including manuscript wordings.
  • Drive the expansion of the client's broker and client base through marketing initiatives, product analysis, and service promotion, highlighting our Technology Industry solutions and other company offerings.
  • Ensure meticulous organization and documentation of underwriting files.
  • Assist with report preparation, presentations, and special projects to support the success of the National Technology Practice.
  • Keep management informed about key broker and market intelligence developments.
  • Analyze emerging technologies and industry trends to proactively address market changes and future coverage needs for technology and manufacturing clients.
  • Collaborate with Operations & Technology teams to recommend and implement initiatives that enhance service, productivity, and renewal process efficiency.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years of experience underwriting commercial P&C and Tech E&O insurance.
  • Post-secondary education with relevant insurance designations/education is a plus.
  • Proficiency in understanding policy wordings and their implications on claims.
