Your new role

Role Overview: As a Mechanical Estimator, you’ll play a crucial role in our full-range mechanical projects across industrial, commercial, government, and institutional markets. Here’s what you’ll be responsible for:


Accurate Cost Estimation:

Prepare estimates for materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.

Advise on tendering procedures, analyze tenders, recommend awards, and conduct negotiations.


Process Management:

Establish and maintain tendering processes, cost monitoring, and reporting systems.

Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers, and architects.


Collaboration and Communication:

Participate in site reviews, tender hand-offs, and project closing meetings.

Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Liaise with engineers, architects, owners, and other stakeholders.


Continuous Improvement:

Stay updated on industry technology and construction methods.

Conduct material and equipment purchasing for secured jobs.

Travel to various sites or clients as needed.

What you'll need to succeed

Education and Experience:

Preference given to:

Graduates of Mechanical Engineering or Construction Technology programs with related work experience.

Qualified tradespeople in the mechanical field with estimating experience.

10–15 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator on ICI projects of $5M or higher.

Skills and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge in:

Working with deadlines

Contract management

Construction scheduling and planning

Interpreting mechanical drawings

Trade fluency (plumbing, hydronic, HVAC)

Organization and time management

Self-driven leadership

P. Eng. or CET certification is considered an asset.

Project management experience is advantageous.

Software Proficiency:

MS applications (Word, Excel, and Projects)

Autobid Mechanical (QuickPen)

Accubid Change Order Pro
