Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Strive to consistently act in a manner in which reflects the company’s culture and values.
  2. Monitor compliance throughout the company with health, safety & environment policies and procedures in conjunction with Canada Labour Code Part II, prescribed COSH and Environmental regulations.
  3. Support, advise and act as a resource for all employees regarding safe work practice enquiries.
  4. Research, evaluate and recommend new and/or different types of safety devices & equipment with a goal of continuously improving Safety metrics.
  5. Conduct internal safety audits to ensure compliance with corporate policy and applicable OH&S regulations. Recommend corrective actions required for compliance and continuous improvement.
  6. Review all first aid occurrences and investigate accordingly.
  7. Act as safety trainer for specified programs in compliance with corporate policy and procedures.
  8. Ensure OH&S accident and incident investigations are conducted appropriately and thoroughly, as per outlined in policies and procedures.
  9. Support monthly joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee meetings.
  10. Monitor all hazard observations and maintain records.
  11. Assist with the hazardous materials management program to ensure compliance with WHMIS/GHS regulations and internal policies and procedures.
  12. Ensure that adequate facilities and equipment are available to meet first aid requirements.
  13. Liaise with Human Resources regarding employee injuries and WSBC claims.
  14. Assist the OSH Manager in auditing safety practices to ensure regulatory compliance.
  15. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  1. Diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalency.
  2. First Aid - Level 2 certification is preferred.
  3. 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing and/or aviation.
  4. Experience with Transport Canada Approved Safety Management or Department of National Defence Flight Safety System advantageous.
  5. Knowledge of disability management and audit management.
  6. Proficiency in Accident/Incident Investigations and Canadian Health & Safety Regulations (COSH).
  7. Familiarity with Industrial Hygiene practices.
  8. Thorough understanding of WSBC regulations and procedures.
  9. Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
  10. Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
  11. Intermediate computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  12. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
  13. Legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
