Hughes Safety Showers, NA currently has an opening for a Shipping/Receiving Associate in Sarnia, Ontario. Hughes Safety Showers is a world leader in the manufacturing of emergency safety showers, eye/face wash and decontamination equipment designed to operate across all industries regardless of location, climate or local hazards.
General Summary
The Shipping/Receiving Associate will have several aspects, but daily requirements will be allocated to shipping and receiving functions as well as supporting the manufacturing process with various manual/physical tasks. To be successful as a candidate you must be able to perform a wide variety of tasks that require stamina and an eagerness to learn on the job. A good candidate can understand instructions and carry them out efficiently within the given deadline. A candidate with a manufacturing background in mechanical assembly/piping environments will have an advantage. Additionally, an individual with experience in loading large/heavy products will come as an asset.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries a valid forklift certification with safe operational history.
- Valid G Driver’s License with clean abstract.
- All duties are carried out or performed in a safe and ethical manner.
- Loading and unloading materials/product from or onto flat beds, trailers and roll tight carriers.
- Pickup and deliver materials using company vehicle.
- Accomplish tasks in a time sensitive manner with accuracy.
- Shipping/Receiving experience ability to verify material received to PO/Packing list.
- Document and verify material and product that are inbound and outbound in written and electronic form.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft platforms.
- Ability to pick, pack and palletize orders using supplied documentation.
- Material handling both physically and with the use of forklift.
- As required the ability to work in the manufacturing area as demand or circumstances require.
- Inventory organizational skills.

- Must have a great attitude and willing to grow with the company.
- Must always diligently follow safe practices for yourself and team members.
- Must be able to work in a flexible team environment with job rotation as needed.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed.
- Willingness to cross train for other job functions.
Working Conditions
- Ability to use ladders at least 10 feet off the ground.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, stand and walk up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be able to stand, kneel, bend, pull, push and lift 50 lbs. up to 8 hours per day and when overtime is scheduled.
- Wear all required PPE including steel toed shoes and safety glasses.
- Good physical condition and endurance.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and in all type of weather conditions.
