An overview of your future role at BBA:


As an engineer and depending on your expertise, you'll be required to perform the following tasks:

  1. Carry out engineering projects based on the IEC 61850 - Digital Power Systems standard
  2. Serve in various roles, including project leader and proposal leader
  3. Design protection diagrams (logic and control diagrams)
  4. Design the architecture and configuration of substation HMI/SCADA
  5. Configure smart electronic devices (relays, substations controllers, etc.)
  6. Conduct testing in the BBA digital power systems lab
  7. Commission digital power systems

As team leader, you'll be required to:

  1. Manage the team effectively and create a climate that fosters motivation and recognition
  2. Regularly communicate with team members, regardless of where they work
  3. Help ensure quality relationships among team members, disciplines and project management
  4. Promote quality by applying the quality management system and using BBA's tools and work methods
  5. Onboard new resources as well as coach, advise, guide and support team members
  6. Plan, carry out and follow up on employee evaluation or development meetings, including defining performance objectives
  7. Provide feedback to employees on your team
  8. Ensure the firm's policies and internal programs are applied
  9. Manage personnel, more specifically by monitoring teamwork planning
  10. Identify skills development and training needs
  11. Evaluate and monitor career plans
  12. Help with the hiring process
  13. Identify and resolve performance or behavioural issues, if any
  14. Monitor productivity

Overview of certifications and job requirements:

  1. University degree in Engineering
  2. Five or more years of experience in the power systems industry
  3. Experience managing a team (of two to five resources)
  4. Willingness to take the "From Professional to Manager" training offered by the HR department (after starting the position)
  5. Available for short- and long-term work assignments at client sites in Canada
  6. Bilingual (English and French)
  7. Knowledge of electrical substation technologies
  8. Knowledge of protection relay configuration
  9. Asset: knowledge of the IEC 61850 standard
  10. Asset: knowledge of HMI/SCADA system configuration
  11. Asset: knowledge of protection relay test equipment
  12. Asset: graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
