Job Overview


Located in the Greater Toronto Area, the QA Specialist is a credit risk specialist role that is responsible for conducting audits on mortgage loans as part of an internal audit process that includes Pre and Post funding quality controls and measures. The QA specialist will track and document any areas of noncompliance as they relate to the organization’s policies and procedures while collaborating with others in the organization to close any gaps that may exist.


Except for the initial training period this position is by and large a remote job that may require in office attendance once or twice per month.


A minimum of 5 years mortgage underwriting experience with knowledge Prior mortgage QC or QA experience viewed as a very strong asset.


Core Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the mortgage loans we have committed and/or funded are following MMC’s policies and guidelines;
  • To ensure that any document quality issues are brought to management’s attention for further review;
  • To ensure that we are providing feedback to any individuals that require further coaching;
  • To ensure that the Quality Assurance has a full understanding of all the mortgage documents;
  • To ensure that any trends, patterns, and root cause are being acknowledged and actioned to help the individual;
  • To ensure full knowledge of MMC Policies and Procedures and to keep up to date on MMC’s Policies and guidelines;
  • To ensure that daily communication with management to keep processes and outstanding QA issues are current and to date.
  • To ensure that all transactions and/ or documents are documented and reported to the correct departments.
  • Be involved in the audit process for both internal and external parties
  • May include working with internal staff to support exceptions process
  • Other duties as may be assigned


OBJECTIVES:

  • To ensure all mortgage loans are following MMC’s policies and guidelines;
  • To ensure that any document quality issues are brought to management’s attention for further review;

  • To ensure that any trends, patterns and root cause are being acknowledged and actioned;
  • To ensure Quality Assurance has full knowledge of MMC Policies and Procedures;
  • To ensure that daily communication with management;
  • To ensure loans adhere to an Audit checklist prior to funding;
  • To ensure we are conducting audits on loans prior to funding and post funded files;


Qualifications

  • Must have 5 years of previous residential mortgage underwriting experience and/or quality assurance experience, with detailed working knowledge of real estate and covenant assessments;
  • Detailed working knowledge of principles of credit analysis and risk management;
  • Working knowledge of PC software in a Windows environment;
  • Demonstrates the ability to make and document decisions that consider all implications and proactive management of risk;
  • Ability to adapt to changing volumes and while maintain turnaround time expectations;
  • A very strong customer focus is required with an ability to ensure the customer experience is an exceptional one;
  • Highly communicative and collaborative;
  • View themselves as a key piece of the internal and external culture;
  • An ability to make quick decisions without compromising underwriting quality;
  • Undergraduate university degree is an asset;
  • Ability to speak French an asset.
