What you can expect to do here:

  1. Perform conceptual, feasibility, detailed engineering design work;
  2. Support the development of laboratory testing protocols;
  3. Support laboratory/process team research and development initiatives;
  4. Perform field work, data analysis and calculations;
  5. Responsible for developing, writing, and/or reviewing equipment specifications;
  6. Provide mentoring to junior employees;
  7. Write and review proposals, technical memorandums and reports;
  8. Perform Project Management or Engineering Management duties as required;
  9. Perform audits and troubleshooting of existing mine infrastructure;
  10. May be required to provide on-site support supervision in construction setting;
  11. Ability to drive plant commissioning activities;
  12. Follow Health and Safety responsibilities under all applicable government legislations and Golder policies and procedures;
  13. Travel to project sites as required.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  1. Bachelor or Master's degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering;
  2. 15+ years of relevant consulting or operating experience in a mining or mill setting;
  3. Demonstrated background in elements of design or operation of backfill plants (hydraulic fill, paste fill, cemented rockfill), plant, surface tailings disposal systems, underground or surface mine infrastructure, material handling and comminution processes;
  4. Establish laboratory testing protocols for paste backfill operations including, thickening, filtration, rheology, backfill unconfined compressive strength;
  5. Development of backfill underground distribution systems;
  6. Development of slurry transport models;
  7. Valid driver's license and passport;
  8. Possess Professional Engineer accreditation in the province of Ontario or other Canadian province;
  9. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and general computer usage;
  10. Demonstrates a 'Safety First' focus attitude;
  11. Strong organizational skills;
  12. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
  13. Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
