Job Description

Mission:
As an engineer, you will actively participate in projects for the construction of new, and reconstruction of existing hydropower plants. More specifically, you will participate in the design of high-power switchgears and controlgears. This is a good opportunity to showcase your technical skills in the framework of power generation and distribution projects as part of our energy team. This is a hybrid role that can be based anywhere in the Greater Montreal area, Eastern Townships (Sherbrooke, Granby) or Baie-Comeau regions.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Design electrical power systems, as well as their layout in the framework of various hydropower plant projects.
  2. Participate in the development of power systems, including diagrams and drawings for the implementation of switchgear and controlgear, such as medium voltage cabinets, control panels, power distribution centres, etc.
  3. Prepare project deliverables, such as drawings (top view, elevation), including detailed drawings, various layouts, diagrams, etc.
  4. Perform or validate calculations for equipment sizing, selection of power cable gauges, etc.
  5. Select material and calculate quantities.
  6. Coordinate electrical work with other engineering disciplines, such as structural, civil, control and protection, auxiliary mechanics, heavy mechanics, building and architecture.
Qualifications:
  1. University Degree in Electrical engineering
  2. Member of l'Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  3. More than five (5) years of experience
  4. Knowledge of the standards established by Hydro-Québec or other public utility (an asset)
  5. Knowledge of power distribution - methods, practices and tools used in the design of power systems
  6. Practical knowledge of design software (AutoCAD and others)
  7. Fluency in oral and written French
  8. Proficiency in English is essential for this engineering role, allowing us to engage proficiently with our stakeholders, such as clients, vendors, and internal teams, to ensure a smooth project execution nationwide
  9. Knowledge of applicable design standards and codes, including the Quebec Electrical Code
  10. Resourcefulness, motivation, enthusiasm, and strong will to deliver successful projects
