Job Purpose


The TSW Supervisor at Caithkin Treatment Foster Homes will oversee the team of Treatment Support Workers (TSWs) providing community support to youth/clients living in foster/host homes. This role involves supporting TSWs through scheduling, communication, and program coordination for community shifts. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Resource Workers and Foster Parents to organize and schedule TSW shifts and managing essential documentation. This position will be responsible for working with the Staffed Home Supervisor and HR in the recruitment process including hiring, orientation, and training of new support staff. The TSW Supervisor role will include the oversight of TSW performance management and work with a high performing team of colleagues to create new processes and ways to support the mission at Caithkin Treatment Foster Home.


Key Responsibilities


Hiring and Onboarding


  • Conduct interviews for TSWs in collaboration with the Staffed Home TSW Supervisor, while communicating and finalizing the recruitment process with HR team.
  • Complete the job specific onboarding and orientation process for new TSWs, providing training and support to ensure they are fully prepared for their roles.
  • Schedule and coordinate all required internal corporate TSW training sessions to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Work with HR and Administration to schedule and coordinate external TSW training.


Treatment Support Worker (TSW) Supervision


  • Manage the scheduling of TSWs for foster/host homes and community, in collaboration with Staffed Home TSW Supervisor, ensuring proper shift coverage, aligning staffing with client and foster parent needs.
  • Oversee the “When to Work” TSW schedule, adjusting staffing as necessary based on client demands and team availability.
  • Approve and manage TSW time-off requests, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage.
  • Review TSW hours for payroll accuracy and address any discrepancies, ensuring timely updates for payroll processing.
  • Review car mileage inquiries for accuracy and ensure they are addressed appropriately.
  • Review and monitor Incident Reports (IRs) and Serious Occurrence Reports (SORs) for youth/clients working with TSWs, debriefing with staff as needed.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with TSWs, providing feedback, guidance, and support.
  • Communicate daily, weekly, and monthly expectations to TSWs, ensuring clarity in roles, responsibilities, and performance standards.
  • Document TSW communications and ensure that any key information or updates are recorded accurately.
  • Complete Performance Reviews with TSWs, including 3-month, 6 month and annual evaluations, collaborating with Staffed Home TSW Supervisor to include all necessary information for the review.
  • With HR assistance, work with TSWs when disciplinary or corrective action is required.
  • Ensuring all TSW job duties are being successfully completed, following up on incomplete tasks.


Client Support and Supervision


  • Coordinate and program shifts for community-based TSWs, ensuring appropriate staffing levels for all foster/host homes and maintaining a high standard of client care.
  • Communicate with Resource Workers and Foster Parents to organize and adjust TSW shifts as needed to meet client needs and scheduling needs.
  • Collaborate with resource workers to review client progress, meeting notes, and case files to ensure continuity of care and accurate documentation.
  • Support the development and delivery of individualized programming that addresses residents' specific needs, goals, and interests.
  • Maintain clear communication with foster parents regarding TSW schedules and any updates related to their care needs.
  • Ensuring appropriate therapeutic and relevant programming for all clients - recreational and summer programming.


Staffed Foster Home Operation


  • Assisting the Staffed Home TSW Supervisor where needed to ensure the operational needs of Staffed Home and community foster homes are met, including staffing, scheduling, and maintaining a supportive environment for both staff and clients.
  • Provide back up supervision for the staffed foster home when Staffed Home TSW Supervisor is unavailable.


Team Process and Procedures


  • Working with the Management team to create, implement and review processes and procedures to allow for smooth operations.
  • Initiating the flow of work between front line employees and clinical office employees for efficient and cohesive day-to-day interactions.
  • Providing clinical office coverage as needed by the Team.
  • Participating in necessary team meetings.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Degree or diploma in Child and Youth Worker, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of administrative office experience.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Employee Scheduling experience.
  • Medical administration experience.
  • Certification in trauma-informed care or equivalent training is an asset.
  • Database and physical file management experience.
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with documentation management, school programming and individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Experience working with confidential information.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Conditions of Employment


  • Office work hours are Monday to Friday, In-person from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
  • Working closely alongside the Executive Director, Resource Workers, Accounting and HR Team and all other necessary points of contact.
  • Traveling for meetings and using your own vehicle to meet the needs of clients.
  • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time.
  • High-pressure periods due to workload and annual auditing requirements.
  • Participation in required training and professional development when needed.

Job Location: In person at 499 River Road West, Wasaga Beach, Ontario
