We are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager in the Newfoundland. This role requires complete accountability for all accounts within the geographic area, including maintaining quality standards, overseeing building performance, and ensuring account integrity. Hours of work may vary based on day-to-day requirements, including evenings and weekends. The role is also on-call as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a culture that promotes inclusion, innovation, productivity, and collaboration.
- Build strong relationships with clients and staff, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
- Oversee and maintain quality standards, building performance, and account integrity.
- Liaise with clients to provide regular updates and address concerns proactively.
- Hire, train, evaluate, and discipline staff across all assigned buildings.
- Ensure a strong recruitment process, including verifying SIN/work permits, validating photo ID, and ensuring all required documentation is completed.
- Conduct security screenings and enforce uniform policies.
- Monitor building sites for changes, document developments, and recommend improvements.
- Administer payroll, transfers, and terminations while maintaining accurate records.
- Conduct pay cheque audits to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Manage labor hours and control budgets for assigned accounts, including supply and equipment costs.
- Organize and coordinate additional or project work as required, ensuring proper staffing.
- Conduct regular quality assurance inspections using handheld technology and prepare detailed reports.
- Perform monthly health and safety audits and maintain compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and Employment Standards Act.
- Monitor and inspect buildings for additional services, "extras," and vacancy credits.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with property management and tenants through routine visits and proactive communication.
- Ensure performance and quality standards are consistently maintained.
- Monitor equipment performance, schedule regular maintenance, and coordinate emergency repairs as needed.
- Assist in and/or initiate productivity improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in the janitorial/cleaning industry with a strong background in operations, labor relations, and staff management.
- Experience managing budgets, including labor and supply costs, with the ability to analyze variances and implement improvements.
- Strong understanding of employment regulations, workplace safety, and health standards.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and develop staff while effectively allocating resources.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; fluency in additional languages is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to use handheld technology for quality audits.
- A disciplined approach to managing multiple sites, setting priorities, and meeting customer needs.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driver abstract, as travel between sites is required.
- Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check.
