Job Overview:

We are looking for a motivated Data Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team in Toronto. This individual will play a crucial role in expanding and maintaining cloud-based data pipeline architecture for our various cross-functional Tax teams. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in building reliable data pipelines and reporting tools. Candidates with a strong application development background and a keen interest in data engineering are also encouraged to apply. This role will involve close collaboration with Engineering, Tax Compliance, and Tax Reporting teams to support functional use cases and drive data-driven decisions.


How You Will Fulfill Your Potential:

  • Develop domain and data models to deliver standardized reporting solutions for the firm.
  • Design, develop, and implement data ingestion and transformation processes.
  • Develop automation, governance, and reporting solutions to ensure firm and regulatory controls.
  • Collaborate with global teams using Agile software methodologies.
  • Partner with Tax Risk, Compliance, and Reporting teams to provide insights.
  • Use data to drive improvements and inform strategic decisions throughout the Tax business.


Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience (VP level requires more).
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Proven experience building workflows (ETL pipelines).
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets and transform them into actionable insights.
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility to manage tasks to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Interest in applying technical expertise to the Financial Services industry.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data architecture, modeling, and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Python, Spark, and the Hadoop ecosystem.
  • MS/BS in Computer Science or relevant industry experience.
