Job Title: Leadhand

Brandt is currently seeking a Leadhand for our Surrey Construction & Forestry branch. This position is responsible for coordinating and directing the workload of the Service department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work. The Leadhand advises and makes recommendations to the Shop Foreman and Service Manager regarding technician skills and training needed.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skill and knowledge.
  2. Assists in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs, and review repair orders for accuracy and completeness.
  3. Directs and assists technicians and apprentices in the diagnosis of machine problems.
  4. Inspects and repairs all special tools; recommends new tooling as required.
  5. Advises Shop Foreman or Service Manager of all customer complaints.
  6. Assists the Shop Foreman or Service Manager with coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings.
  7. May fill Shop Foreman’s role in their absence.
  8. May arrange for and participate in reconditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment.
  9. May approve the release of equipment for delivery to customer.
  10. May assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager.
  11. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  1. Ability to work multiple shift patterns.
  2. Ability to lead others.
  3. Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to present to groups.
  4. Ability to use standard desktop applications.
  5. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Experience
  1. 5+ years’ experience as a heavy duty service technician.
  2. Journeyman certificate required.
  3. Class 1 driver’s license considered an asset.
  4. Forklift license preferred.
