Job Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular and recurring accounting functions requiring professional competency
  • Use established Accounting principles to work under limited supervision and to provide assistance to the managers on the team with daily operations
  • Follow appropriate procedures for preparation of accounting records, research of transactions, and reporting
  • Aid in internal and external audits
  • Assist in month-end closings, including all related processes and procedures
  • Review monthly account reconciliations of various general ledger accounts to include; research and timely resolution of complex reconciling items
  • Analyze journal entries to the general ledger ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Review work output of the Shared Services Groups
  • Review Customer Accounts and determine Doubtful Allowance
  • Review and prepare weekly payments to outside brokers
  • Ensure financials are in accordance with GAAP or other required accounting standards
  • Contribute to operational and process improvements
  • Perform special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree; Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and database software packages
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Effective and efficient time management and organization skills
  • Detail-oriented and thorough
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-directed individual who is comfortable working in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be comfortable explaining accounting concepts to people with non-financial backgrounds
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high initiative, flexibility, and team approach to work
