This is an opportunity for you to join the team in the Respiratory Department in the Lead/Educator role. As the Lead/Educator your responsibility will include the supervision, training, and evaluation of staff in the department. This role includes the support and strategic decision-making such as: recruitment, assignments, mentorship, project implementation, and initial stages of discipline. You will develop orientation processes, educational programs, certification programs, as well as policies and procedures and ensure standards of practice are adhered to. This role reports to management regarding new programs and staffing resource issues you have. Responsibility includes coordinating equipment maintenance and repair as required. Direction is provided to the discipline, facility, zone, and province which includes the scope of practice of respiratory therapists and provision of services. An integral aspect of this position is liaising with interdepartmental or provincial teams to ensure alignment. Fort McMurray resides on Treaty 8 territory and on the traditional lands of the Metis. This is a family-forward city with lively social, arts, recreational and cultural opportunities. Located in Canada's boreal forest with lakes and rivers nearby, along with four provincial parks. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As a Respiratory Therapist III - Clinical Practice Lead, you will be responsible for mentoring, promoting standards of practice, responding to clinical questions, and coordinating ongoing skill and student development within your team. You will collaborate with managers and supervisors in the provision and access to internal and external continuing education and professional development programs including certifications and upgrades.
Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).
Actively worked in an acute care setting, in the past 5 years, with experience in arterial line insertion and endotracheal intubation. Two years previous supervisory or mentorship experience. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Previous experience and/or training in adult education. Connect Care experience will be required once you are hired.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) an asset.
