Primary Job Function:

Responsible for internal controls and integrity of financial reporting considering all aspects of Affiliate financial operations across Accounting, Tax, Treasury and Audit to ensure optimal outcomes for all Corporate Finance groups.

Legal entity strategic control and oversight:

  • Analytical oversight of legal entities through entity balance sheet and P&L reviews, focus on entity profitability, financing efficiency, and balance sheet integrity.
  • Acts as a point of contact with the Abbott Management Representative (AMR) whom has the legal operational responsibilities for the entity.
  • Acts as a point of contact for guidance and clarification on financial and accounting matters.

Cross-functional integration, assessment of risks and opportunities:

  • Single point of contact for elevation of entity issues from finance shared service and business with triage of issues across stakeholders including Controllership, Tax, Treasury, Legal, External Audit, etc.
  • Focus on interdependencies, in particular between across Tax, Treasury, Statutory, Shared Services, business and external factors.
  • Coordinates efforts with internal finance functions to obtain regular support, strategic guidance and reviews results for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Manage outsourced providers (e.g. E&Y) for local country statutory and tax filings.

Expertise to execute strategy and priorities related to changes in structure:

  • Coordination point for planning and execution of entity aspects of acquisitions, integrations, divestitures and business reorganizations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Attract and develop organization talent and build a high performing finance team.
  • Implement new accounting financial policies in conjunction with BTS (i.e. Rev Rec).
  • Design, implement and monitor critical internal controls (i.e. SOX, New Acc Policies).
  • Accounting of non-routine transactions (i.e. New contracts, acquisitions).
  • Represent Finance in BAC and ACC.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis for litigations, audits etc.
  • Lead and coordinate Internal and External Audit activities.
  • Complete local statutory reporting requirements if it is required.
  • Tax compliance activities including Payroll taxes (i.e. Transfer Pricing documentation).
  • Calculation of Tax Provision, manage Longview.
  • Completion of year end annual reporting package.
  • Complete Monthly Entity financial review (P&L, Balance sheet, etc.).
  • Statutory Financial Reporting and local bookkeeping obligations.
  • Support OEC initiatives (i.e. Policy Framework, Anti Corruption assessment).
  • Manage local banking activities in collaboration with Affiliate and Corporate Treasury.
  • Manage OTC, PTP and RTR.
  • Monitor inventory physical cycle counts.
  • Physical assets tagging and assets requisitions/disposal (including filing documents required by law);
  • Pension Plan/fund management including external audit.
  • Request to fulfill obligations related to TSA agreements.
  • Monitoring and reporting on all business activity and maintain financial records.

Position Accountability / Scope:

This position reports to Area Finance Director, Latin America & Canada under Corporate Financial Services.

Minimum Education:

  • BS/BA Finance, Accounting or other technical field.
  • Emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
  • Bilingual in French and English.

Minimum Experience / Training Required:

  • 15 + years financially-oriented business experience, preferably in health care and/or medical technologies industries, with international business experience/oversight preferred.
  • Wide ranging financial and leadership experience, including financial planning, accounting control and strategic thinking and planning.
  • C.P.A. or C.M.A., M.B.A. certification preferred. Demonstrated leadership qualities and influencing skills required.
  • Ability to balance between the strategic “big picture” perspective and proper attention to detail with a “hands on” approach is required.

Strong Analytical Skills Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills required, and experience in a matrix organization preferred.
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and solution.
  • Ability to recruit, develop and promote top managers.
  • Proven track record in implementing business and productivity initiatives.
  • Proven ability to drive positive change to senior management teams and throughout organization.
  • A track record of holding people accountable for delivering results, and someone who holds self and others to the highest standards.
