CONTRACT DATE: ASAP until October 11, 2024 or the return of the incumbent

REPORT TO: Senior Manager, Employment Services

HOURLY RATE: $29.95

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Employment Advisor is responsible for providing employment services for participants. The individual in this position will work in collaboration with the TNG Employment Services team and will work closely with community partner agencies. The position will be providing individual guidance, delivering group workshops on site and off site, providing referral and information support, both internally and externally, as well as case-management services to job seekers of all ages.

In 2025, the Employment Service Transformation will come to the City of Toronto. Although we do not know exactly how this will impact our daily work, we continue to invest in our team to develop our capacity for the transformation. As a team, we will continue to prioritize excellent service to our job seekers, employers and partners with a priority on decent work and support. This position reports to Senior Manager, Employment Services.

MAJOR DUTIES:

•Accountable in the area of service outcomes and service delivery standards; employment, education and training, ensuringa high quality of customer service and acceptable positive results rate, with an expected success rate of 69% in competitiveemployment and 10% in training/education coupled with the participant suitability target of 31%.

•Conduct assessments to understand the skills, abilities, and job interests of participants, as well as the challenges theyface in securing and retaining employment. This will help identify their specific needs for employability and the extent ofsupport they require, whether it be assisted or unassisted. Develop an 'Action Plan' that outlines the necessary level ofsupport to help them achieve their employment or educational objectives.

•Manage and achieve the assigned “assisted” participant caseload annually as stipulated by the funder.

•Clarify employment, training and/or career goals by exploring local labour market information and trends, employment,education and training opportunities/resources, apprenticeship and self-employment information.

•Support assisted participants in planning and conducting job search based on realistic and accurate assessment ofqualifications compared to job requirements.

•Maintain participant tracking and filing systems; ensure written documentation and statistics for each case file is consistentlyup to date, and recorded in the CaMS database, adhering to audit guidelines and is properly stored.

•Provide information regarding services available in the agency and in the community that will support participant’semployment, financial and personal needs. Make referrals based on participants need while adhering to EOES guidelines

•Plan and deliver individual and group workshops, internally and externally, which may include information on local labourmarket, careers and occupations (including self-employment), employment preparation, job search and interview skills.

•Determine the need and suitability for Job Development Services and work collaboratively with the Job Development teamto meet participants’ needs and team targets.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

•B.S.W., B.A. in Adult Education, Employment/Career Counseling, Human Resources, with two years of relevant serviceexperience or equivalent education/experience.

•Experience working within Employment Service with strong knowledge of Better Jobs Ontario and other external referralsources to support employment

•Recent knowledge and understanding of the participant groups, labour market trends, and related social services/programsfor youth and adults

•Recent successful achievement of targets in a similar employment environment

•Proven ability to successfully implement and deliver employment services in an outcome-based funding environment

•Recent comprehensive knowledge of employment and training resources and labour market information

•Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated professionalism with all contacts.

•Superior organisational, time management and group facilitation skills

•Proven computer skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), Zoom along with strong ability to use onlinedatabase systems; experience in CaMS would be an asset

•Vocational and Interest testing Certification an asset (e.g. Strong Interest Inventory, Campbell Interest and Skills InventorPersonality Dimensions, and Myers-Briggs).
