General description:


Plans, directs, coordinates and controls activities of custom designed manufacturing project to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.

Making shop drawings for fabrication and installation of Architectural Woodwork


General Scope:


The Architectural Millwork Drafter plans, performs activities of making custom design shop drawings for manufacturing and installation, works to ensure that goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and cost parameters.


Functional Responsibilities:


. Attends virtual meeting for training and information transfer, including objectives of the tasks

. Create shop drawings in line with design aesthetics and JSI standards, within established budgets and controlled parameters.

. Reviews the elements impacting the scope to draft, for example plumbing, electrical etc. in order to integrate them properly, so they are properly coordinated

· Render 2D or 3D modeling using Autocad (2D) and/or Inventor (3D)

· Prepare and organize the drawings for presentation based on JSI standards

· Adjust the drawings per a system of green/red lines to accommodate learnings and customer instructions

· Collaborate with the team of in house experts for learning and implementation of best practices and scopes

· Research the specialty hardware/plumbing/appliances etc in accordance to client specs so to best integrate and coordinate the shop drawings

· Controls his/her own work to making sure to meet JSI standards

· Other related tasks as identified and directed by the department manager


Qualifications & Skills:


  • University or College Degree in Commercial Drafting
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in architectural drafting/Millwork engineer
  • Drafting architectural millwork structures is a must
  • Excellent ability to read architectural plans
  • Ability and ease in reading specifications and quotes
  • Knowledge of materials (wood, plastics, metal, glass) including hardware and how they are processed in production
  • Team work and excellent communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCad
  • Knowledge of Inventor (an asset)
