Job Description: We are currently hiring a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant is responsible for financial analysis and review, managing cash flow, and providing guidance and support to other accounting personnel. This position is a maternity leave coverage of approximately 16 months.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Prepare, analyze and review financial statements (including balance sheet and income statements) in accordance with ASPE.
  • Oversee and review daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, etc.
  • Manage the company's cash flow and ensure that adequate funds are available to meet the company's financial obligations.
  • Preparation and distribution of regular profit dividend calculations to shareholders and bonuses to operating managers.
  • Coordinate year-end preparation of financial statements and working papers for external auditors and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting for restaurant operations.
  • Work with the Vice President/Chief Financial Officer to ensure the management information systems provide useful and meaningful information on which operating and strategic decisions can be made.
  • Other related duties as required.
Education and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • CPA designation or in-progress.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in full cycle accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work under pressure and ensure all tasks are completed on time and within company policy and procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP - considered an asset but not required.
  • Willing to learn and grow; our accounting department is very cross-trained to cover off each other's vacations.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to jump in and collaborate with Accounting Supervisor and rest of accounting department as needed.

Background: Chiro Foods Limited is a restaurant management company in the Edmonton area that has owned and operated quick service restaurants for 40 years. This is a full-time, on-site position (little to no remote work). Our office hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm. We are located in South Edmonton (Gateway Boulevard & 51 Avenue).
