Une équipe de chercheurs de trois universités québécoises (Université de Sherbrooke, UdeS, Université de Montréal, UdeM et Université Laval) s’est associée à deux agences gouvernementales (Agence canadienne d'inspection des aliments, Santé Canada) et de deux organisations de consommateurs sans but lucratif (Allergie Alimentaire Canada et Cœliaque Québec) pour développer une nouvelle méthode de détection d’allergènes plus robuste, plus sensible et moins dispendieuse que l’ELISA. Il s’agit d’une méthode basée sur une sonde Raman composée d’une nanocorne de carbone (NCC) dans laquelle un marqueur est encapsulé et sur laquelle un anticorps est greffé. Le signal Raman sera plus précis et plus détaillé que le signal en fluorescence de l’ELISA et permettra l’acquisition parallèle des signaux de plus d’un allergène à la fois.



L'objectif de ce projet de thèse proposé est d'optimiser la synthèse des NCCs par plasma en mettant l'accent sur la purification et l'encapsulation du colorant. La personne retenue devra (i) optimiser la nanostructure de NCCs, (ii) affiner les protocoles de purification et d'encapsulation de colorants (iii) identifier les colorants à encapsuler dans les NCCs à partir des aspects distinctifs de leur spectre Raman (iv) caractériser les sondes par microscopie électronique en transmission pour mieux comprendre l'interaction entre les colorants et les NCCs. Ces travaux permettront d’identifier les mécanismes d'encapsulation des NCCs afin d’améliorer la sonde R-ELISA et établir des bases solides pour la sélection et le protocole d'encapsulation.


Cette thèse sera encadrée par le Pr. Nadi Braidy de l’UdeS et le Pr. Richard Martel de l'UdeM. Les travaux seront principalement réalisés à l'Institut interdisciplinaire d'innovation technologique (3IT) de l'UdeS, notamment dans le nouveau laboratoire de microscopie électronique en transmission, et des stages seront prévus dans les laboratoires de l’UdeM. Le projet se réalisera, en collaboration étroite avec l'Université Laval, les partenaires du projet et collaborateurs dans des laboratoires internationaux. La personne candidate bénéficiera ainsi d'un environnement de recherche international exceptionnel où étudiants, ingénieurs, professeurs et industriels travaillent main dans la main pour développer les technologies du futur pour améliorer la santé publique et l'industrie alimentaire au Canada.


Profil recherché

-Détenir un diplôme universitaire et une maitrise en génie ou en science en chimie, matériaux ou physique.

-Expérience en synthèse ou en caractérisation de nanomatériaux de carbone. Une expérience approfondie dans les méthodes de caractérisation par microscopie électronique en transmission est un atout.

-Facilité à communiquer en anglais ou en français tant à l’oral qu’à l’écrit

-Forte capacité d’adaptation, d’autonomie, de travail en équipe et de résolution de problèmes
