We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Vice Principal to join our team at Unionville College. The Vice Principal will work closely with the Principal and Director of Education to ensure the smooth operation of the school, provide leadership in instructional practices, and foster a positive school environment. This role requires a dynamic educational leader with a passion for student achievement, staff development, and community engagement.


Key Responsibilities:

Educational Leadership:

  • Support the Principal in developing and implementing school policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a school climate that promotes student learning and positive behavior.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum.
  • Monitor and support the instructional practices of teachers through observations, feedback, and professional development.


Student Management:

  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Address student behavior issues and implement disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Monitor and promote student attendance and punctuality.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging school culture that encourages student participation and achievement.


Academic Support:

  • Collaborate with the Principal and Head of Technology & Curriculum to develop and implement curriculum standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate instructional programs to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Support teachers in the development and execution of effective lesson plans and assessments.
  • Working alongside the Principal, lead professional development initiatives to enhance faculty skills and knowledge.


Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Assist in the hiring, training, and evaluation of teaching and support staff.
  • Provide leadership and support for professional development initiatives.
  • Mentor and coach teachers to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
  • Under the direction of the Principal, coordinate and lead staff meetings and collaborative planning sessions.


Administrative Duties:

  • Oversee the maintenance and utilization of school facilities and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, provincial regulations, and educational standards.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and manage school operations in the absence of the Principal.


Community Engagement:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community members.
  • Organize and participate in and support school events, parent-teacher meetings, and community outreach activities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external organizations and agencies.


Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all students and staff.
  • Develop and implement emergency preparedness plans and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with WHMIS standards.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.) with OCT Certification required; Master’s degree in Education Administration or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience, with proven leadership roles preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and maintain a positive school environment.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and data management systems.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and development.
