Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Purchasing Manager to join Hall Telecommunications Supply Ltd. As the incoming Purchasing Manager, you will wear many hats acting as a mix of a Clerk, Buyer and Manager. You will bring your knowledge of purchasing and your experience in leadership to grow and lead a high-performing team of individuals and ensure cost effective purchasing practices for the organization. Working closely with the sales and warehouse teams, the Purchasing Manager reports directly to the Vice President and will contribute to the overall strategic vision of the Purchasing department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor all activities related to the procurement of goods and services.
  • Lead the full purchasing cycle including all clerical duties from issuing purchase orders, tracking progress, to receiving the product.
  • Work with vendors to gain a solid understanding of their warranties & ensure accurate records of warranties are maintained.
  • Work with and maintain relationships with Vendors to ensure products are delivered according to schedule.
  • Plan and order materials to maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet operational demands. Expedite delivery of goods as needed.
  • Develop and maintain purchasing policies, procedures and work practices.
  • Maintain computerized procurement records and regularly communicate with vendors to ensure current price lists are on file.
  • Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.
  • Request Freight Quotes, item etas and item stock from vendors to better assist the sales team with giving the most accurate information to customers.
  • Lead and mentor a small team providing guidance, oversight and support on the development of each team member.
  • Identify, implement and lead process improvement to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Attributions and Qualifications:

  • 3 – 5 Years’ experience in Purchasing with at least 1 year of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
  • Hands on experience and understanding of purchasing processes including experience arranging and tracking shipments.
  • Strong understanding of the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision making.
  • Ability to analyze markets and identify trends.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to negotiate and influence.
  • Team oriented and committed to supporting the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong MS-Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience with Spire or similar inventory management or procurement software is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Flexible with the ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally as required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and maneuver up to 80lbs.
  • Ability to operate a forklift as required.

Salary:

  • The starting salary for this position will be $80,000.
