Position Summary

The Regulatory & Scientific Affairs Specialist will evaluate formulations and raw materials for regulatory compliance and helps to identify, develop and substantiate nutrition and ingredient claims. They will review labels to ensure regulatory compliance and technical accuracy, and provide other technical regulatory and nutrition support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensure products comply with FDA, Health Canada and/or other international regulatory bodies as needed.

• Verify nutrition labeling, product artwork, consumer communications, and other communications for regulatory compliance and technical/nutrition accuracy.

• Work with R&D to ensure that product nutrition and compositional claims are substantiated and in compliance with regulations as well as internal requirements.

• Coordinate product certifications with certifying bodies (Organic, Non-GMO etc.).

• Support customer requests with suppliers for new ingredients or based on customer requests, maintain document organization.

• Review documentation for new ingredients to ensure compliance to set standards and specific requirements.

• Help maintain internal databases and documentation systems.

• Assess impact of regulatory changes on the product portfolio.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor Degree preferably in Food Science or Nutrition with knowledge of regulatory affairs, nutrition, and/or dietary supplements

• Experience with NHPs (including filing NPN applications) and/or dietary supplements is considered an asset

• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral

• Possess ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information as well as high level of accuracy with information

• Ability to commit to a full time weekly schedule (37.5 hours a week)

• Able to travel to the facility in Lancaster, NY as required.
