The Security Services industry is constantly changing, requiring Citi to react and plan accordingly. To that extent, a 5-year transformational strategy is underway focused on platform efficiency, consistent global operating model, capabilities to support evolving client needs, data strategy, and value-added services.

Cloud and a modernized data marketplace are key components of this strategy. A consistent platform to provide API data services to external clients, to source, store, and disseminate data, and to drive the adoption of Cloud technologies across Securities Services to ensure we deliver our services upon stable and scalable infrastructure.

The Engineering Lead Analyst sits within the Data, Digital and Innovation group under Securities Services Information Management. The Engineering Lead is responsible for the overall success of the Cloud and AI/ML program. This person must have adequate knowledge and information about the business and technology to make informed decisions and ensure that a collaborative approach is adopted. Previous experience in Big Data, Cloud & AI/ML is required. This role is expected to work in close partnership with other IT Leads and Managers, Product, and Operations counterparts to ensure coherent and complete project delivery for our Securities Services clients and may require direct interaction with those clients. This is a Hands-On Technical role.

This position reports to the Cloud and Data Platform Lead SST Information Management.


Responsibilities:
  • Establish and lead an elite engineering unit focused on building core components to support our businesses’ Data and Analytics capabilities for use across SST.
  • Develop Cloud Data strategy, Data pipelines and ingestion frameworks, Streaming frameworks, and Lineage frameworks to support a diverse set of application and Analytical and ML use cases across SST.
  • Create technology solutions and work in partnership with internal IT teams and Cloud providers to accelerate public cloud adoption and harness associated emerging technologies.
  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
  • Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
  • Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources.
  • Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and engineering excellence across the Enterprise: modern engineering practices, adoption of open source and open standards, creating a culture of collaboration and efficiency.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.

Experience:
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in applications development.
  • Hands-on experience in Cloudera, Cloud (AWS or Google).
  • Experience managing global technology teams.
  • Working knowledge of industry practices and standards.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Deep expertise as a hands-on technical leader working on complex systems in a large organization.
  • Deep engineering expertise building scalable Data products, with a practitioner understanding of Data warehousing, messaging, distributed Data architectures, and establishing Data platforms to support complex Analytical usage.
  • Experience driving software delivery transformation through Agile practice and process.
  • Expertise in Cloud platforms and associated Developer Toolchains, DevOps models, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communicator who loves working with people.
  • Highly credible hands-on engineer, confident to deep dive into a product and codebase and offer detailed, constructive analysis and feedback.
  • Well-developed technical written communication skills.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
