Job Title: Senior Data Centre Technician

Job Type: 1-year full-time Contract

Location: Downtown Calgary

Pay Rate: $60 INC

Start Date: December 18th 2024

End Date: 1 year after start date

Responsibilities:

  • Lead IT teams in data center operations, focusing on physical hardware, servers, storage, networks, backups, and database operations.
  • Manage data center configurations and migrations, providing hands-on support for on-site operations.
  • Perform racking and stacking of devices, power calculations, and oversee data center cabling projects, ensuring adherence to standards.
  • Implement and maintain structured cabling systems, including fiber optics and voice cabling infrastructure.
  • Conduct daily inspections of equipment, addressing and resolving issues proactively.
  • Replace hot-swappable hardware (e.g., drives, fans, network cabling) and assist in equipment installations, decommissions, and relocations.
  • Coordinate vendor relationships, ensuring compliance, communication, and collaboration during outages or project activities.
  • Monitor power indicators and environmental controls within the data center, reporting and addressing anomalies.
  • Maintain detailed schedules, activity plans, and documentation for data center operations.
  • Manage and maintain inventory, including asset tagging and tracking, to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP) activities.
  • Adhere to corporate policies and ITIL processes to maintain operational excellence.


Note: This role requires flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment and respond to outages as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of handling and driving IT teams in DC operations space
  • associated with Physical hardware, server, storage, network, backup
  • and database operations.
  • 7 years of experience on handling Data Center (DC) configuration,
  • migration from one DC to other. Provide smart hands support for data
  • center site.
  • Good knowledge in Racking & Stacking of devices, power calculation
  • with Proven expertise in managing multiple Data Center cabling
  • projects.
  • 7 years of experience in Data Center cabling standards and infrastructure,
  • including structured cabling systems, fibre optics, and voice cabling.
  • Basic knowledge on Compute, Network and Storage & Backup
  • technologies.
  • Should be good in maintaining detailed activity schedule and work
  • plan in the Data Center.
  • Vendor Relations Coordinator oversees vendor compliance, vendor
  • communication, and vendor development.

Should be flexible and ready to work in 24*7 in case of outages


GOOD TO HAVE:

  • Basic knowledge on Server Hardware and Network Hardware
  • Basic knowledge on Server OS and Network IOS
  • Good communication & Listening skills.
