The operations in Dartmouth are growing rapidly to directly support the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) contract with the Royal Canadian Navy, in designing and building Anti-Submarine Warship Frigates.


BAE Systems has an immediate hiring need for a Project Planner on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Project Planning Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for obtaining production forecasts from external stakeholders and updating and maintaining the master project schedule, supply chain schedule and key forecast dates within the internal system. You will also be responsible for challenging forecast dates and ensuring they are realistic and that all parties’ schedules are well aligned.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct liaison with customers and internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Review supply chain schedules to extract forecast dates and update internal software (Primavera)
  • Ensure project and production schedules are up to date at all times
  • Ensure project budget is respected and aligned with deliverables
  • Review bills of materials and prop packs from each supplier
  • Obtain forecasts from external partners, challenge them when necessary ensuring they are realistic, and update the system to ensure all parties involved have aligned schedules
  • Monitor progress and provide progress reports to management and clients
  • Occasionally visit the production site to ensure all information is accurate as defined in the Statement of Work (SOW), in accordance with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS)
  • Re-baseline the plan(s) with the Project Planning Manager following any major contract changes, to create a revised, viable program of work
  • Assist with analysis, interpretation, and reporting of key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Other duties as required


Required skills and qualifications:

  • Must have a clean criminal record and be able to pass a security assessment as per the Controlled Goods Program of Canada which requires applicants to be a Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen (work permit and study permit are not sufficient)
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret Level 2 Security Clearance
  • Minimum of 2 years’ project planning / management experience
  • Must have previous experience using a project scheduling / management software
  • PMP designation considered a great asset
  • Degree or Diploma in Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management considered an asset
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel (Intermediate)
  • Strong English communication skills both verbally and written
  • Ability to understand and communicate a large volume of data
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Team player mentality
  • Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with a team


The starting salary range for this position is $67,500 to $77,000, depending on skills, educational background, and experience.


Flexible Work Schedule: Monday to Friday – Can start between 7:30am to 9:00am, and finish between 4:00pm to 6:00pm (37 hours per week). Reduced hours every Friday (5 hours instead of 8).
